Peter joined Texans Care for Children as Communications Director in 2014. He has also served as an adjunct assistant professor of Policy Communications a UT Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs since January 2025.
For 25 years, Peter has worked to change policy by shaping public debates and communicating with policymakers. From 2006 to 2014, Peter ran the Capitol office of State Rep. Mike Villarreal, spearheading policy and communications efforts as the Legislative Director and then Chief of Staff. He previously worked in Washington, DC as a legislative aide to a U.S. Congressman and a Senior Policy Associate at a non-profit advocacy organization.
Peter’s volunteer experience includes serving as a human rights observer in Colombia, an election monitor in Mexico, an officer in his neighborhood elementary school’s PTA, and a coach of his children’s baseball and basketball teams.
Peter has a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a master’s degree from UT Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs.
