Kathy Green is the Vice President of Policy and Advocacy for Texans Care for Children, providing strategy and leadership for the organization’s legislative and policy work in its four main issues of maternal and child health, child protection, children’s mental health, and early childhood education.
For over 30 years, Kathy has worked in and around the Texas Capitol, shaping state and federal policies on health and human services, nutrition assistance, public education, and other priorities. Before coming to Texans Care for Children in 2026, she served as the Director of State and Federal Strategy for AARP Texas. Kathy also held senior policy roles at the Central Texas Food Bank, the Texas Department of Agriculture under Commissioner Todd Staples, the Texas Legislature, and multiple public policy and advocacy organizations.
Kathy serves on the board of the Austin Library Foundation. She has also served as Chair of the Austin-Travis County Food Policy Board and Chair of the Austin ISD School Health Advisory Committee. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and English as well as a certificate in Leadership and Management from the University of Texas at Austin.
