During the 2023 legislative session, Texas lawmakers will write the state budget for fiscal years 2024 and 2025. State agencies are currently working on their Legislative Appropriations Requests (LAR), which will guide legislators as they develop the budget.
We recently submitted our recommendations to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) regarding its budget request. Our recommendations address the areas of children’s health, maternal and infant health, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), children’s mental health, and the safety and quality of foster care.
