Perinatal depression -- also called postpartum depression or maternal depression -- is a serious and widespread condition that affects a mom’s health and children’s development. State leaders recognize the need to address perinatal depression, and the 2017 Texas legislative session provides opportunities to improve women’s access to timely screening and treatment of perinatal depression.
