About the Founder's Award Luncheon
The Texans Care for Children Founder’s Award Luncheon brings together supporters, advocates, and special guests to celebrate Texans working to make a big difference in the lives of Texas children. The Founder’s Award is dedicated to our founder, Phil Strickland, and his work to make our state the best it can be for children and families.
Past honorees include: Governor Dolph Briscoe, Governor Mark and Linda Gale White, The Honorable Jane Nelson, The Honorable Patrick Rose, The Honorable Harriet O’Neill, Charles Butt, Eleanor Butt Crook, Patricia and Robert Ayres, Barbara Baugh, Bryan Sperry, Lester Meriwether, Elizabeth Tucker, Joyce James, Dr. Clift Price, and Libby Doggett.

Presenting the 2018 Founder's Award to
MARY JALONICK AND DR. LISA HOLLIER
Mary Jalonick is the former President & CEO of The Dallas Foundation and serves as a chair for the Texas Education Grantmakers Advocacy Consortium Leadership Committee. Under her leadership, The Foundation has become a model non-profit, mirroring Jalonick’s dedication to the early education of Texas children. Jalonick’s ability to foster collaboration among several non-profits came to embody the Zero to Five funders collaborative and Early Matters Dallas. After leading The Foundation for over thirty years, Jalonick announced her retirement this past February, but pledged to continue her work as an early education advocate.
Dr. Lisa Hollier
Dr. Lisa Hollier is a leader in the effort to support women's health in our state and works tirelessly to keep new Texas moms alive. A national expert in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Hollier serves as Chair of the state's Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Task Force, Chief Medical Officer for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Children’s Health Plan, Medical Director of The Centers for Children and Women, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Director of Women’s Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine, and as President-Elect of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists after serving on the Executive Board for five years.
