This will be the second in a series of events addressing substance use and its impact on children and families, a critical issue nationwide and here in Texas. This series will explore data trends, programs that serve children and families, best practices, and policy opportunities, and will be a chance for stakeholders to share their experiences and feedback.
Speakers will examine the ways that schools, the behavioral health system, the CPS system, and the juvenile justice system respond to youth substance use -- including prevention, intervention, and treatment efforts as well as disciplinary responses -- and how these responses affect youth outcomes and well-being. The discussion will also address recent state policy changes and future policy opportunities.
We will meet from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14th at the Texas Hospital Association, located at 1108 Lavaca Street #700 in Austin.
