Director of Youth Justice Policy
As the Director of Youth Justice Policy, Lauren leads Texans Care for Children's work to ensure that our juvenile justice system is efficient and effective, school discipline practices do not push kids out of the classroom or into the justice system, and state policies help youth succeed. As a recognized leader on juvenile justice, Lauren was appointed to three different state task forces in 2015, addressing the regionalization of the juvenile justice system, records of youth in the juvenile justice system, and improving outcomes of juvenile sex offenders. She also mentors a youth whose father is incarcerated. Before joining Texans Care for Children, Lauren worked as an aide to a Texas legislator and worked on local, state, and national campaigns. Lauren holds bachelor's degrees in journalism and government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's of Public Affairs from UT's LBJ School of Public Affairs.
