Josette Saxton

Mental Health Policy Academy Director

After more than twenty years serving in various roles at Texans Care for Children, including as our Director of Mental Health Policy, in early 2023 Josette Saxton transitioned her role to serve as a consultant to lead the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health Policy Academy.

Launched in 2010, the Hogg Foundation Policy Academy was founded by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health to increase individuals’ and organizations’ capacity and expertise to advance mental health policy in Texas. As the grant lead for this project, Texans Care for Children partners with Josette to provide facilitation, event planning, and logistical support.

In addition to her prior roles at Texans Care for Children, Josette also worked as a group facilitator and counselor for a school-based youth enrichment program and as a development associate for a nonprofit organization that serves families in crisis and provides residential care for children in need. Josette has a B.A. in Psychology from West Chester University and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
