Josette Saxton

Director of Mental Health Policy

Josette has been with Texans Care for Children since 2004, focusing on early childhood and mental health issues. She leads our Texas Children's Mental Health Forum. Prior to joining Texans Care for Children, she worked as a group facilitator and counselor for a school-based youth enrichment program and as a development associate for a nonprofit organization that serves families in crisis and provides residential care for children in need. Josette has a B.A. in Psychology from West Chester University and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.

As a recognized leader in children's mental health policy, Josette currently serves on the following committees:

  • Texas School Health Advisory Committee 
  • Texas Children’s Policy Council 
  • Texas Children Recovering from Trauma Initiative, Steering Committee
  • State CRCG Work Group
  • STAR Kids Expert Panel, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas
