When a child is abused or neglected, one way we as a state respond is through the entity known as Child Protective Services (CPS). Each month, Texans Care for Children brings together representatives from the Department of Family and Protective Services, which oversees CPS, along with families, nonprofit foster care agencies, and other community-based partners for Partners in Child Protection Reform. Texans Care formed the group during the CPS reforms of 2005. The group studies the issues related to reform, facilitates communication between child welfare organizations and the Department of Family and Protective Services, and advocates as necessary to ensure that CPS reform is in the best interest of the children it serves. We strive to make Texas CPS reform a model for the rest of the country, and to ultimately increase child safety and enhance quality of life for the vulnerable children of Texas.
Meetings are typically held the 1st Wednesday of each month, 1pm - 2:30pm in Texas Capitol Room, 3N.3. For updated meeting information and details, please check the calendar page of our website.
