First Lady Launches Campaign Against Child Obesity - Tuesday, February 09, 2010
|
First Lady Michelle Obama today announced that she is launching a nationwide campaign to end child obesity in a single generation. Called " Let's Move," the campaign is multi-pronged, focusing on what schools, communities, and families can do to ensure children get the right amount of nutritious food and enough physical activity, according to ABC News.
In related news this week, researchers from Ohio State and Temple Universities announced findings to be featured in an upcoming edition of the journal Pediatrics about other key strategies that can help prevent obesity in children and youth. These include families eating meals together every day, ensuring children get adequate sleep, and limiting television viewing on week days.
Finally, Texans Care for Children is doing its part by collecting and sharing recipes to help busy working families in Texas put healthy, kid-friendly fare on the table quickly. To add your thoughts on Let's Move, as well as recipe ideas, please visit our blog. |
